Have you soothed your fussy baby with a lullaby or urged your first-grader to practice piano more often?

The director of MacPhail’s Early Childhood Music programs offers tips for how, when and why to introduce music into our children’s lives.

As early as six weeks of age, babies can learn from and be soothed by the sounds and movement of music. Dianna Babcock, Director of Early Childhood Music at MacPhail Center for Music, joins Marti and Erin to highlight the benefits of music for children of any age – from enhancing math and language skills to aiding social and emotional development to just plain fun. Watch what types of musical sounds your young child gravitates toward and you may correctly predict the instrument he or she will choose to play in the future!
