Should you delay kindergarten entrance if your child has a summer birthday or seems a little immature?
Kindergarten isn’t quite what it used to be and parents often feel intense pressure and competition to make sure their children are little scholars before they walk through the door of their kindergarten classroom. Dr. Martha Rosen, lead psychologist from Minneapolis Public Schools, joins Marti and Erin to discuss what really is most important in helping your child be well-prepared to enter school and where to turn if you question your child’s readiness. She also takes on the issue of delaying kindergarten entrance and offers some research-based information to support her position that delayed entrance usually is ill-advised.
