Where do parents turn if their baby or child has complex medical needs?

This week’s guest shines light on the challenges families face and resources that can help.

Whether a premature, medically fragile newborn or an older child with a complicated illness or injury, a child sometimes needs complex medical care, not only in the hospital but often long after returning home. This week’s Mom Enough guest is Dr. Roy Maynard, who has more than 20 years of experience caring for these multiply-challenged children and families. He offers guidance and information on where to turn and what to expect if you or someone you know faces this situation.

Have you or someone close to you had a child with complex medical needs due to premature birth or a complicated illness or injury? What emotional issues do parents and other family members (including siblings) often experience in such a situation? Share your thoughts in our REPLY space below!

This was such a great experience. Thank you to Marti and Erin for an interesting interview with Dr. Maynard. Hopefully his insight can help families with medically-fragile children navigate the healthcare waters.
